Keep your cat indoors in Arizona. It is not safe for them to be out at any time. If you must let your cat out, do so with supervision or on a leash. 

  1. Lameness that lasts more than 5 days
  2. Noticeable decrease in vision; pupils that do not constrict in light
  3. Masses, ulcerations (open sores) or multiple scabs on the skin
  4. Foul mouth odor or drooling that lasts over 2 days
  5. Increasing size of abdomen
  6. Increasing inactivity or a
  7. Hair loss
  8. Breathing heavily or rapid at rest
  9. Inability to chew or eat dry food

Brush frequently to keep hair coat from matting.  Many cats do not groom themselves well.

There are many signs of disease or problems that can be interpreted as insignificant or even normal. Our goal is to diagnose and treat diseases in their early stages when the success rate is much higher. We recommend that you present your dog for an examination for any of the following:
  1. Continual or significant increase in water consumption
  2. Continual or significant increase in urination
  3. Weight loss
  4. Significant decrease in appetite or failure to eat for more than two consecutive days
  5. Significant increase in appetite
  6. Repeated vomiting
  7. Diarrhea that lasts over 3 days
  8. Difficulty in passing stool or urine
  9. A break in housetraining habits

Monitor urine output by measuring the amount of wet litter in the litter box.

Cats are very good at hiding any signs of disease or illness. Please be sure to bring your cat in annually for an exam to ensure its good health. ​
